- Q: How is the Second Year Course evaluated?
- A: The course is evaluated through two components: Oral Theory carrying 25 marks and Practical Drawing carrying 75 marks. Together they form a complete assessment of the student’s knowledge and artistic skill.
Theory (Oral Evaluation)
- Q1: What is a vanishing point?
- A: A vanishing point is the point on the horizon where parallel lines appear to converge in a drawing. It helps create the illusion of depth and distance.

- Q2: What is the horizon line and eye level?
- A: The horizon line represents the viewer’s eye level and is where the sky meets the ground in a landscape. Eye level is the height from which a scene is viewed and drawn.
- Q3: What is perspective?
- A: Perspective is a technique used in art. It represents three-dimensional objects realistically on a two-dimensional surface. This technique gives a sense of depth and space.
- Q4: What are the types of perspective?
- A: The main types are one-point perspective where lines converge to one point. There is also two-point perspective, which converges to two points. Finally, there is three-point perspective, converging to three points, including vertical perspective.
- Q5: How many vanishing points can be created from a rectangular shape?
- A: A rectangular object can have one to three vanishing points depending on the angle and the perspective being used.

- Q6: What is foreshortening? Give an example.
- A: Foreshortening is a drawing technique used to create the illusion that an object is receding strongly into the background. For example, a person’s arm stretched toward the viewer looks shorter than it actually is.
- Q7: What do you know about prehistoric man’s painting?
- A: Prehistoric paintings, found in caves, were created by early humans using natural pigments. They often depict animals, human figures, and hunting scenes, and are among the oldest known artworks.
- Q8: What is the importance of still life painting?
- A: Still life painting is important. It improves an artist’s ability to observe and replicate the texture, shape, and arrangement of everyday objects realistically.

- Q9: Write short notes on freehand and memory drawing.
- A: Freehand drawing involves sketching without the use of tools like rulers or compasses, developing fluidity and confidence. Memory drawing involves creating an artwork based on recall, improving visualization and imagination.
